Subject : Energy
Entitled : solar housing project
Country : Germany
City : Leinefelde
Key figures :
- Surface : 96,55km²
- Population : 21 000
Project description :
While 40% of energy consumption in Germany is used up on interior heating (can reach up to 80% in the case of private housing), the construction of buildings who reduce energy use and at the same time use renewable energies appears crucial.
This energy-saving program is composed of six important principles :
- An efficient thermal insulation is decisive for the success of the project. By this means, the loss of heat can be significantly reduced.
- The facade and the roof have to be hermetically insulated and the insulation has to be carried out with precision.
- Against the loss of heat : The unique installation of an air recovery system.
- A solar device can provide for heating and hot water supply.
- A photovoltaic installation can produce the necessary energy. Large heating surfaces allow for low temperature heating.
- Use of normal geothermal energy.
Implementation dates : 1993-1996
Funding : Regional and national government, private sector
Cost : 11,8 millions DM
